Expansion

2009 – A Bigger, Better House

The Students’ Association of Mount Royal University recently wrapped up a long needed expansion project to better serve the students. Originally built in 1987, Wyckham House was designed to accommodate roughly 5,000 students. As the student population grew, the need for an expanded student centre became more acute.

Ground was broken in May 2007 and throughout the Fall and Winter semesters of 2007-8, students and staff watched intently as the Wyckham House expansion grew from initial excavation into a three storey completed structure. Completed in Fall 2008, 45% more space was added and the Students’ Association of Mount Royal University entered a new era of bigger, brighter spaces, a better food court, a vibrant Council Chambers and even more helpful services.

On March 14, 2009, the Students’ Association celebrated the grand opening of the expanded student centre with a gala celebration.
