The Students' Association operates with a multi-million dollar
operating budget. Funds are provided through membership fees,
donations and revenue-generating operations like the
Liberty Lounge and food and convenience kiosks. Funds are used to
operate the student centre, to provide services to all SA members, and
for executive honoraria, staff salaries and wages.
SAMRC and the
Wyckham House Students' Centre is owned and operated by you, the
MRC student. The operations of the SA are directed by five elected
student executives who act as a representative body for all Mount
Royal College Students. The
Executive Committee is charged with developing a
budget that is then considered and approved by Students’ Council.
Students’ Council is the chief decision-making body of the
Students’ Association and controls the disbursement of the Students’
Association funds, maintains proper books of account and have the same
audited when required. Students’ Council also maintains the accounts
of all Clubs and Societies.
The audited financial statements and the published records of the
Students’ Association are open to any member of the Students’
Association for inspection at the SA offices during regular business
hours, reasonable notice given.
Audited financial statements are presented for information at the
Annual General Meeting. The SA’s auditors are also approved at
this meeting.
