Candidate for VP Activities | ||||
ARIC JOHNSON Bands, bar, cabarets... sounds like fun. However, I realize that being VP Activities for the Mount Royal College Students' Association is not all fun and games. As current activities representative for The Journalist and Wordsmith society, I have learned a great deal about what the VP Activities job entails. As a representative for you, the Mount Royal student, I would be responsible for voicing your concerns to approximately 30 college and community boards — I would take this very seriously. Organizing, and being involved with, such activities as Anti-Hatred Week, New student orientation, and other student-related events are also important to the role played by the VP Activities. Remember, it is your right to voice your opinions and I will take your comments and criticisms very seriously. This past year has seen the successful expansion of our student centre, Wyckham House. Our bar, The Liberty Lounge, has become one of the top live music venues in Calgary and continues to grow in popularity. With further Wyckham expansion planned, the Students' Association of Mount Royal College will prove to be a leader in Calgary's entertainment industry. I find the thought of being involved with this process exciting and, I want the students at Mount Royal College to share in this enthusiasm. Great strides have been made this past year in terms of getting societies to work together on events and activities. Thus far, this
community-approach has been very successful for a number of societies and their respective members. I will work closely with
each club and society in order to ensure that this continues.
