Elections Home  Rules & Regs Candidates Voting Results Council Executive

General Election Information

Both Students' Council and Executive elections are held in February or March of each year. Nomination forms can be picked up at the SA Offices, located in room Z201 in Wyckham House, usually starting in early February.

A "Notice of Elections" will be posted in Wyckham House prior to any election. The "Notice of Elections" outlines all deadlines and voting periods. All students in good standing may currently vote in the SA elections, so a valid Student ID card must be shown before you can cast your ballot.

Nominations

The Nomination period for 2006 runs from Monday, February 5th at 8:30 a.m. to Tuesday, February 13th at 4:30 p.m.  All candidates must submit their nomination packages, including all supporting materials, by the end of this nomination period.  In addition, all candidates would be expected to submit their ‘Candidate’s Platform’ information and a ‘head and shoulders’ style digital photograph. Incomplete nomination packages will render a candidate ineligible for the election. Nomination forms for all positions are available at Reception in Room Z201 in Wyckham House.

EXECUTIVE AND COUNCIL ELECTIONS

Executive Elections

Each year, Students’ Association members elect students to serve on the Executive Committee. As a student of Mount Royal College you have the right to run and to vote in the Students' Association Annual Elections.

Once elected, these four students serve from May 1 of the year that they were elected to May 15 of the following year, allowing for a two-week overlap between incoming and outgoing Executive members. Each Executive member is a full-time, paid employee of the Students' Association and must take one course per semester (excluding the Spring and Summer terms), maintain a grade point average of 2.0 or higher, and keep full-time office hours.
