BAR
MANAGER
The Students’ Association of Mount Royal College
(SAMRC) is currently seeking an energetic, committed
and professional Bar Manager. This team player must
manage all aspects of our student bar including
budgeting, inventory and financial controls, staff
scheduling and supervision, and alcohol service
management and liability.
This is a full-time permanent position with a
starting salary of $46,000 per year and excellent
benefits. The Students’ Association also offers many
additional monetary and non-monetary benefits to its
employees. Employees are entitled to health and
dental benefits at no cost. 100% of the premiums are
covered by the organization as well as any Alberta
Health Care premiums. Employees also enjoy a
progressive, 35 hour work week and a policy on
flextime which allows employees to bank time during
peak periods and “flex-off” during slow ones. Our
annual holiday closure in December is one week
including New Years, and starting vacation
entitlement is three weeks increasing with seniority
to 25 days per year.
The successful candidate will have the following
experience and credentials:

At least three years of related industry
experience with extensive knowledge of AGLC
requirements;

Management experience which includes staff
supervision and training;
-
Responsible risk assessment and alcohol management
experience;

Financial management skills and experience;
-
Political savvy for analyzing and addressing
issues in a constantly changing environment;

Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability
to manage conflict;
-
Solid change management skills;
-
Excellent judgment;
-
High tolerance for complexity and ambiguity;
-
Excellent
written and oral communication skills;
-
Ability to work independently and with a team; a
self-starter capable of initiating and monitoring
own work and the work of others;
-
Complete fluency with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.

High level of attention to details;
-
Excellent organizational, time management, and
multi-tasking skills; and
-
Some experience with non-profit organizations
would be an asset but is not mandatory.
It is expected that the successful candidate will
maintain core day-time office hours with one
regularly schedule evening per week. Additional
evening and weekend work may occasionally be
required.
